Schneider Electric - Altivar Soft Starter ATS130: much more than a power extension of the ATS01

Schneider Electric has expanded its portfolio of Soft Starters with the new Altivar Soft Starter ATS130 series. The introduction of the ATS130 extends the power range of the ATS01 to 55kW while maintaining its compact size and many additional benefits.

Best-in-class starting capabilities

The Altivar Soft Starter ATS130 achieves one of the widest starting cycles in its category, contributing to improved machine availability at start-up. The optional fan improves operating cycles/hour and multiplies it by up to 2 compared to natural convection, so your Soft Starter does not need to be oversized for demanding applications.

Preventive maintenance-free

The ATS130's EverLink power terminals ensure a solid connection over time. Thanks to the integrated, patented creep compensation system, it is no longer necessary to retighten the clamps every year. For control wires, a spring control terminal also ensures lifetime connection pressure.

Robust in uncontrolled industrial environments

The Altivar Soft Starter ATS130 can withstand harsh industrial environments as it complies with chemical class 3C3 and mechanical class 3S3 according to IEC 60721-3-3 Ed. 2002 without salt spray. In an enclosure that is hotter than expected, the overheat monitoring function will help prevent excessive starting numbers, and internal diagnostics will report a detected fault via a front LED.

Easily expandable to a soft motor starter solution

The Altivar Soft Starter ATS130 can be easily integrated with the matching TeSys Deca circuit breaker. The result is a compact Soft Starter merged into one block that offers short-circuit protection, thermal motor protection, phase loss and phase unbalance protection, along with soft start and stop functions. The ATS130 motor starter has the same width as a DOL motor starter, 55 or 81 mm, and is also compatible with a cabinet depth of 200 mm.

Boon Edam, known for its revolving doors and turnstiles, picked itsme as their main electrical components supplier last year. The large product range and the vendor managed inventory (VMI) solution for the grab stock of electrical assembly materials were the deciding factors. “When you install VMI, you actually do it forever.”

Connected Business - Vendor Managed Inventory
The Lean improvement method distinguishes eight waste categories. One of these is 'inventory'. Too much stock is not good, but neither is too little. After all, having stock also provides the safe feeling of availability in times of uncertain internal planning and external factors that cannot be directly influenced. Because optimising availability both in one's own company and in the supply chain is often not the core competence of our customers, itsme can take over the care of such optimisation, for example through the import and management of so-called Vendor Managed Inventory systems. But, how do you know whether VMI is indeed the right solution? Ralph van Aartsen can answer that crucial question - using five questions. Here, in advance, are his answers to our questions on VMI.
