Leuze - Always safe!

To protect people around dangerous workplaces, Leuze has been giving substance to the topic of safety and protection for decades with light barriers, safety switches and safety laser scanners. When periodic action is required and mechanical shielding such as fences are not desired, these optical shielding options provide exactly what is needed. Benefit: accessibility and ergonomics at the highest possible level, taking hazards into account, of course.

In recent years, safe radar systems have become available as an addition to the suite of options: without being bothered by (sometimes extreme) dirt, or moisture, radar offers solutions.

Laser scanners use a scanning principle in which infrared laser light is transmitted through the transmitter. If no light is reflected, a ‘safe’ situation would be given. As soon as light is seen in the receiver of the scanner, this means an emergency stop: persons cannot be in danger (taking into account braking distance, response time of the safety device, etc.). This is very effective to ensure, that hands, legs or body are not in the danger zone. There is no distinction between objects and persons.

Safe radar is extremely robust in conditions such as snow, rain, smoke, dirt, oil, etc. Many static objects such as plastics, wood and even concrete are invisible to a radar. Detection depends on material type, speed, size and position. Distinction between objects and persons is possible.

So for completely safe installations now even more possibilities!

Together with Leuze, itsme helps you find a suitable solution to safety issues!

Leuze - Give me a tough question
In industrial automation, sensors are the eyes and ears of the machine or plant. By far the most commonly used binary switching sensors are inductive and optical. Inductive sensors are well suited to technical applications that require metal detection, such as monitoring start or end positions, valve position or speed controls. Optical sensors, however, have a much wider range of applications.
