Professionals choose screwless clamping technology from Bals more often
CEE contact materials are now also available with screwless clamping technology. This allows quick assembly and annual checks of loosening screws are unnecessary. But not every clamping technology guarantees reliable results. Professionals therefore choose the screwless clamping technology: QUICK-CONNECT from Bals.
Disadvantages of screw-type terminals
Conductors were traditionally clamped with screws in CEE contact materials. Annual inspection according to NEN-3140 is then necessary. Due to temperature changes, vibrations or shocks, screws can come loose. The wires are then no longer connected properly. Poorly connected wires increase the risk of excessive heating, with all the associated risks. In addition, loose contacts can lead to power failure resulting in production downtime.
Major differences with screwless clamps
As an alternative to screw-type clamps, screwless clamps have been developed. However, the screwless clamping technique differs greatly from one manufacturer to another. For example, there is a screwless cutting technique where the conductors are inserted unstripped. A blade then cuts through the insulation to connect to the conductor. It is an advantage that the conductors do not need to be stripped. However, the contact area between conductor and contact points remains relatively small, preventing an optimal contact connection. There is also the question of what damage the conductors will suffer over time if the blade cuts deeper into the conductor due to vibration and shock.
Professionals choose Bals QUICK-CONNECT
The screwless clamping technology comes from Bals, the German supplier of robust CEE standard products for industry and installation engineering. The patented QUICK-CONNECT connection technology achieves constant pressure on a larger contact area than comparable clamping techniques. Colours make it clear which conductor should be inserted into which opening. With a click of the finger, the clamp audibly tightens on the conductor. The conductor is then reliably connected. Bals contact materials with QUICK-CONNECT are easily recyclable. All 16A and 32A QUICK-CONNECT sockets are also the only ones of their kind to be completely lead-free.
