Siemens - Save on your machine thanks to the new SINAMICS S200

The latest S200 Sinamics servo system from Siemens features a good balance between functionality, design and cost. The system consists of the S200 controller, 1FL2 servo motor and associated cables for power supply, encoder and holding brake in lengths of up to 30 metres.

The 1FL2 servomotors with an overload capacity of up to 350% and speed of up to 6500 rpm are available in various versions to better suit your machine. This system is therefore suitable for use in various markets and applications in the basic and mid-range segments.

Tailored to your needs

The S200 controller, combined with the 1FL2 servo motor, meets the highest requirements. Thanks to improved cooling capabilities and design, the system is very compact to save space in your machine and control cabinet. In addition, there is integration into TIA Portal/ Startdrive to save engineering costs. The S200 is also equipped with the safety function STO according to the highest safety class: SIL 3 / PL e. To ensure robustness, the servomotor is available in IP65 (IP54 a possibility for the smaller motors) and the inverter is equipped with coated circuit boards (3C2). In addition, the corresponding cables are available up to 30m in a variant for fixed routing, as well as for in a cable caterpillar.

Digitisatio

With the integrated web server, you can access the controller without additional software. Cyber security is guaranteed here through the defence-in-depth system, including Security Wizard and User Management and Access Control (UMAC).

In addition, DriveSim Designer allows you to digitally mimic your controller. Thanks to the insights provided by the digital twin, you will be able to optimise your drive system in order to, for example, improve your time-to-market, train new users or identify problems at an early stage, thereby reducing risks and costs.

Standardise your machine

Thanks to certifications such as CE, UL, RCM and KC, the controllers can be used worldwide.

The S200 basic

Besides the standard 3-phase 400V controller - which is available up to 7kW - the S200 basic is also available. For the most general applications where safety functions are not required, the S200 basic can be a godsend. It is available in 230V in a power range between 0.1 - 1 kW. Although this variant is called the basic variant, it also includes the integrated web server and digitalisation capabilities.

Boon Edam, known for its revolving doors and turnstiles, picked itsme as their main electrical components supplier last year. The large product range and the vendor managed inventory (VMI) solution for the grab stock of electrical assembly materials were the deciding factors. “When you install VMI, you actually do it forever.”

Connected Business - Vendor Managed Inventory
The Lean improvement method distinguishes eight waste categories. One of these is 'inventory'. Too much stock is not good, but neither is too little. After all, having stock also provides the safe feeling of availability in times of uncertain internal planning and external factors that cannot be directly influenced. Because optimising availability both in one's own company and in the supply chain is often not the core competence of our customers, itsme can take over the care of such optimisation, for example through the import and management of so-called Vendor Managed Inventory systems. But, how do you know whether VMI is indeed the right solution? Ralph van Aartsen can answer that crucial question - using five questions. Here, in advance, are his answers to our questions on VMI.
