How easy do you want it to be?
Integrated safety solutions; simple - efficient - clear
In the age of Industry 4.0, production lines must not only be highly flexible, they must also be available at all times and be cost-efficient. At the same time, they have to meet the necessary safety requirements. As the market demands on the manufacturing industry increase, so do the challenges for machine builders.
The world of automation is changing. Processes have become faster, tasks more complex and digitisation is now a basic requirement. Only an integrated approach can lead to a lasting competitive advantage. Today the TIA Portal is more than an engineering framework.
Simple engineering in TIA Portal
The TIA Portal makes the integration of safety technology easier and more efficient in your automation solution than ever before. All configuration and programming tools necessary for the realization of a failsafe program are integrated in the SIMATIC STEP 7 user interface.
It uses a common project structure. A common user interface for standard and safety-related tasks makes the tasks makes the fail-safe controller more accessible and easier to program.
In other words, the system of hardware and software offers the advantage that safety functionality is built in from the start and no other additional system is needed.
Always the right controller
SIMATIC Safety Integrated stands for the seamless and easy integration of safety technology into standard automation applications. This means one controller, one technology, one communication for standard and failsafe automation.
SIMATIC Safety Integrated ensures the highest reliability and saves time and and costs.
Siemens offers the right controller for the whole spectrum of automation requirements. The range of SIMATIC controllers includes Basic, Advanced, Distributed and Software Controller with Safety Integrated. Always deployable with its scalability and functional consistency, which allows for a uniform layout of all safety functions, including diagnostics.
The failsafe SIMATIC S7-1200 controllers are based on the S7-1200 standard CPUs and offer additional safety-related functions. The portfolio includes 3 CPUs with safety functionality, each offering two different variants.
The SIMATIC S7-1500 is its powerful brother. SIMATIC S7-1500 controllers are designed for use in all areas of production automation. They demonstrate their special strengths in applications for medium and high-end machines, when high performance, a wide range of technological functions, flexibility and versatile communication features are required.
SIMATIC controllers can be flexibly expanded at any time with plug-in I/O modules and communication modules. The modular design makes it easy to scale up the SIMATIC ET 200 system in small steps, for example to expand with fail-safe I/O modules. The products can be integrated into the automation system with PROFINET and/or PROFIBUS via PROFIsafe. SIMATIC controllers and I/O modules are certified for applications in accordance with IEC 62061 up to SIL 3 and EN ISO 13849-1 up to PL e.

Bright Renewables - From Webinar to an Actual Predictive Maintenance ProjectRead moreUnder the header “FastForward”, itsme supports product improvement and process acceleration, including by informing customers about time-saving solutions and smart technologies. For example, in spring 2023, a webinar on predictive maintenance was organised in collaboration with KIM Plus Delta, consultants for asset and maintenance management. Bright Renewables’ participation resulted in an actual predictive maintenance project for Bright's green gas plants.

Signaal 64 - Boon Edam - Toegang tot VMI en een groot assortimentRead moreBoon Edam, known for its revolving doors and turnstiles, picked itsme as their main electrical components supplier last year. The large product range and the vendor managed inventory (VMI) solution for the grab stock of electrical assembly materials were the deciding factors. “When you install VMI, you actually do it forever.”

Sissing Noord - Commissioning FrequencyRead moreSissing Noord in Leek (Groningen) is an expert in the maintenance, renovation and construction of “wet” infrastructure, like movable bridges, pumping stations and locks. For the drives of these structures, itsme supplies the speed drives and, where necessary, also the technical know-how. For projects where Sissing Noord needs this knowledge, specialist itsme offers “some relief”.

Connected Business - Vendor Managed InventoryRead moreThe Lean improvement method distinguishes eight waste categories. One of these is 'inventory'. Too much stock is not good, but neither is too little. After all, having stock also provides the safe feeling of availability in times of uncertain internal planning and external factors that cannot be directly influenced. Because optimising availability both in one's own company and in the supply chain is often not the core competence of our customers, itsme can take over the care of such optimisation, for example through the import and management of so-called Vendor Managed Inventory systems. But, how do you know whether VMI is indeed the right solution? Ralph van Aartsen can answer that crucial question - using five questions. Here, in advance, are his answers to our questions on VMI.
